Modified Human Beings
Captain America shows as a great example of biotechnology. The ability to mess around with genetics is actually pretty cool. The movie takes place in the early 1940s and you got to admit, it's awesome to think that they had that kind of ability back then. Who would have ever thought that a small lanky soldier can turn into such a piece of hunk? Well, it's "possible"; it's obviously it's not possible now but it can be (if we all just believe C:). There are aspects of it now that exists, like "designer babies". Designer babies are babies that have a genetic makeup that is "artificially" created. When I say artificial, I mean it... Some parents (if they have the financials) actually choose to modify their children before their births. They can alter hair color, eye color, the whole package (too bad they can't genetically alter personalities or intelligence).
In a lot of movies similar to Captain America, the people that are chose to be altered are low-esteemed, self conscience, and just plain old awkward people. It's weird that after being modified, they all of a sudden have a confidence boost and become well-liked. Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America and played by Chris Evans, was one of them. He was rejected from service during World War II due to health and physical problems. He struggled like everyone during the war but he struggled being himself. He was only enlisted because he agreed to be part of a "super-soldier" experiment. Doctors and scientists genetically altered him physically and mentally to become a "super-soldier". Now, if "super-soldiers" were to exist then the war would come to an end and that was exactly what they wanted. Because of the altercations made to Rogers, he was able to fight for his country and become the best soldier out there on the front.
I mean, it would be cool to alter oneself. I would love to have natural waves in my hair and maybe even purple eyes but it would not be ideal. Personally, I think that everyone should just embrace themselves. Everyone is who they are and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Rogers seemed to be perfect in the eyes of a lot of people but is he? No one, really.... no one can deem themselves as perfect. Just embrace it :)
